Mental Health Services

In early 2023, Edgewater's City Council initiated the creation of Edgewater's Mental Health Plan. The Plan was ultimately adopted by City Council on November 14, 2023.

Edgewater Mental Health Plan | Envision Edgewater

Council's intention for the Plan was to improve the overall mental health and wellbeing of Edgewater's community by increasing access to quality behavioral health services and resources. In acknowledgement of social injustices that have occurred locally and nationally, the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, the increase of suicide and domestic violence, and an acknowledgement that to thrive individually and as a community we all need mental health resources, the staff position of Mental Health Coordinator was established in 2024.

The Mental Health Coordinator's role is to spearhead the implementation of Edgewater's Mental Health Plan. This will be accomplished through various avenues to include clinical co-response with the police department, education and training campaigns, and community engagement events.
